£4.3 million Underpayment for Flu Vaccines

Has Your GP Practice Been Affected?

Published in January 2026

We have analysed data on FP34 reimbursement payments to every GP practice in England and have identified an issue that has affected over 900 practices. The average loss is £4,800 per practice, resulting in a total of £4.3 million in lost income across England.

The majority of affected practices administered Seqirus vaccines. The issue stems from errors made either when the FP34 claim was submitted or processed. Even well-run practices with robust PPA processes have been impacted.

We have also seen similar errors with other vaccine brands, but the number of practices affected is minimal compared with the 900+ who purchased Seqirus.

How to Confirm If You've Been Affected

The good news is that we already know which practices have been affected, and by how much. We’re inviting practices to contact us so we can share this information. We will confirm whether you have been paid correctly for your flu vaccines or, if not, provide information on how you can recover the money you are due.

We’re offering this assessment free of charge because the scale of this issue means practices deserve to know if they’ve been affected, regardless of whether they use our services.

The Importance of Continuous Monitoring

This isn’t the first time we have seen a nationwide issue of this magnitude. In 2021, over £3 million was underpaid due to a similar issue that Ash Lane identified. We have subsequently recovered a significant proportion of this money for the affected practices.

These errors illustrate why continuous checks are essential, and we are pleased to have ensured the 450+ practices that use our Compass Revenue Assurance service were unaffected by this latest issue.

Next Steps

If you are a GP Practice in England that administered flu vaccines in 2025, click the button below to request your Flu Check, which is free of charge. We will send you a report setting out our analysis.

The report we provide will confirm the vaccine brand and quantities claimed which you can check against your records to ensure you have been paid correctly.

We’re also happy to discuss recovering missed income from previous years and for other drugs, where our usual fees would apply. This is included as part of our Compass Revenue Assurance service.
